Not on my friends list?

This is an active semi-private LJ dedicated to my life, my partner and I, art, those around me, activities, activism, interests, etc.. Its also has friend-only access to most of my posts to deflect the unsavory from nosing about my biz and the biz of others, if you are logged in and see this you are not on that list at this time.. LoL. ^-^ Friend me if you believe we have some common ground or message me if there are questions! I'm an open/closed book who is interested in just knowing- people, things, love, and life... etc...  ^-~

Writer's Block: Independence Day

In recognition of Mexican Independence Day, tell us how you celebrate your own independence.

View 394 Answers

I celebrate my independence by living. I could leave it simple like that or I could say that I have a free spirit... a capable body, a partner in crime who supports my wims, and a young life that at this point in time is not bonded by children, mortage, or old age. I think that's why I've limited my extra shifts. I'll never be this young again and I will have no regrets when it is my time to lay down or pass the torch or tell my story to willing ears.  It is the easiest and the most difficult. To live is the greatest adventure. Couple that with passionate love, which I have in abundance from many sources,.... and that is happiness.

Reply to a book discussion about Carey and Bishop.

I've reading all of Bishop's work and have found everything to be a regurgitation of her Black Jewels Trilogy. It was as if she collapse her creative vein creating this series. The later additions were okay, they fleshed out her previous stories and gave readers who couldn't let go something to chew on. As for J. Carey's work... I think her Kushiel's trilogy was her best work... and her second trilogy about Imriel takes a close second. I guess some author's only have one truly great story in them (I think only so for those who write multiple books in a series.) However, I did attend the Seattle book signing for J. Carey's 2008 release. There she discussed two books that I am really excited for... slated for 2009. One is a cyber punk book, which is right up my alley. The other takes place in the Kushiel universe way in the future. It is there we find a half-blood child of the dagda more (spelling, please? I forget off hand) and her adventures. ^-^

Nasty ew- Recipe

It was so simple that I can hardly put it into the category of recipes, Pus Pockets. Pita bread, mozzerella, and ketchup. Ew.

Writer's Block: Subliminal Messaging Month

In celebration of Subliminal Communications Month, come up with your own message and a way to subliminally transmit it, then write about it.

I would code subliminal messages into the stupid text and pictures on beer cans. The messages would alternate between inbedding a desire for sobriety, instilling appreciation for art/reading and furthering my own political agenda. They would have no idea why after downing a pack of bud they had an insatiable urge to read, visit musuems and galleries, and vote for Barack Obama. lol.

To live or Not To Live...

No, that title is not a suicidal ideation lurking on this page to disturb. Really, it's a contemplation of this monster I have turned in to. I am turning into experience whore, a hungry one, one who has to work for what she wants. I want experiences, I want to go out and do things I've never done, never though of, never thought I was capable of. The heart of the matter... is I want: to live, to learn, to love. Those three ideas are the blessed precepts in my life. They are difficult to define, everyone sees them differently, not everyone agrees with my intepretations of living, loving, and learning. And that's okay.

Writer's Block: The Expendable Sense(s)

If you had to give up one of your five senses, which could you live without?

If I want to come at it in a practicle sense, lol, I think taste. I could live safely without taste. At first  I wanted to say smell, because the memories of taste would haunt me crazy... ^-^
